Galvan Euro Nymph Fly Reel

Galvan's G.E.N. reel is built for European Style Nymphing. This popular sport demands a high performance, high quality, fly fishing reel. The key feature of this reel is it’s extreme large arbor and closed frame design. The extreme large arbor design, for those not familiar with the sport, accommodates the much smaller in diameter Euro Nymph lines. The closed frame design creates a no slip through gap between the spool and frame also accommodating to the slimmer line profile of the sport. An added feature of the closed frame is that it also fits the Torque and Rush spools. A 3 pawl drag engagement is also incorporated to provide ultimate drag strength and rotation.

Perfect Match for ESN Rod

I purchased this reel to match with my Thomas and Thomas ESN 10'9" 3Wt. It balances perfectly and keep me nymphing for two straight days on the river with no arm fatigue. The machining is top quality as is the hallmark for Galvan reels. The extra wide arbor works well with my RIO ESN Technical fly line and long Euro style leader. There is no gap to foul up the thin lines. The drag is smooth and easy to adjust on the fly. It allowed me to fight this Northern California rainbow in heavy current. The fish had me on the reel immediately and made multiple runs. The Galvan GEN held up to the task and netted this beauty! Thanks to the guys at Stillwater for putting me into this product!
