Excellent customer service, quick delivery. I love the reel!!

Rush vs. Torque
Very good. I can see the difference in the drag mechanism but honestly I am wondering why I need to pay more for the torque? Caught 45 sockeye in 8 days on this new Rush 8 weight reel and the drag never failed!!!!!

Galvin Rush Light Reel
Very well made, good balance on the rod, smooth to operate

Rush Light R-5 LT -- Quality
The workmanship is amazing on this quality USA made reel. The reel arrived in a timely manner from Stillwater Fly Shop. The shop fitted the reel with 20# backing and 5wt RIO Elite Perception and loaded it for a right-hand retrieve. However, the drag was reversed (still set for left-hand retrieve) and I had to remove the spool and switch the direction of each of the three pawls so the drag was active when line was pulled out (otherwise the drag was active only when reeling line in). Changing the drag was easy enough and there are more detailed directions on Galvan's website. I have the reel on a Douglas DXF 9' 5wt (590-4) rod. You can see from the photo, the balance point is about 1.5 inches back from the end of the cork grip. There are mainly small streams where I live and I was torn between the R-5 LT and R-4 LT. I did a comparison between these two different sized reels: The R-4 LT fits line weight 4-5 whereas the R-5 fits line weight 5-6. The R-4 LT has a 3.25" diameter spool and the spool on the R-5 LT is 3.5" The R-4 LT holds 75 yards of 20lb backing when loaded with 5wt line and the R-5 LT holds 125 yards of 20lb backing when fitted with 5wt fly line The R-4 LT weighs 4.8oz and the R-5 weighs 5.2 oz (0.4 oz difference). Considering the weight difference between the R-4 LT and the R-5 LT, the balance point on the Douglas DXF 590-4 would be moved approximately 1/2" closer to the end of the cork grip (away from the reel) if it were fitted with the R-4 LT. This would also make a good paring and could be used on smaller rods. Ultimately, I kept the Rush Lite R-5 LT and I'm planning on buying a Galvan Brookie in the future to use on my 3wt and 4wt rods.

Great shop!
I have 7 Galvins Need I say more?

Galvan Rush LT
Galvan reels are phenomenal. I own several and have had no issues with any of my Torque or Rush reels. Highly recommend and the service at Stillwater is top notch.

Galvan quality at affordable price
I purchased three of these reels to outfit my kids for an upcoming trip out west. I’ve always appreciated Galvan’s craftsmanship, durability, and affordability. These are solid reels with smooth drags that will provide years of service. Perfect reels for hard use.

Love the Purple!
I bought a purple 5 and absolutely love it. Galvan makes one of my favorite reels. The Rush LT are bomb proof, with amazing drag. The price of the Rush makes it one of the best deals put there!

Great customer service.
Great experience!!!

Solid Reel and Good Value
This is my second Galvan reel. The Torque is my favorite reel with a phenomenal drag. The Rush Light’s drag isn’t up to the Torque’s standards but it’s still plenty good for most of my needs and the Rush Light comes in about $100 cheaper. I’d recommend this reel for anyone looking for a solid reel that’s one step down from a top-shelf reel with top-shelf prices.
